The vineyard of Mandas family is an area of only 12.000 m2 with a low yield per acre due to its dry character but produces a small and sufficient quantity capable of creating such a fine wine. Our family began its activities in the field of wine production in 2000, and has consistently produced two types of wines: “Melipnoon” and “Vageni”.

“Melipnoon”
It is born… in the mountains of Zireia, sheltered in its arms, with the lowland hillsides of the northern slopes functioning as a natural fence from the warm southern winds, and with the sea breeze of the Corinthian Gulf, offering cool winds to the vineyard.

They mature on the ground, on special paper that protects them from contamination, and a special cover protecting them from weather differentiations. With the drying process they lose half their weight and reach the right degree of dehydration becoming ready for draining, pressing and collecting their precious juice.

In the end they offer what nature has planned…

It grows under intense sunshine, and low rainfall, at the ideal altitude of 650m. During the critical months of maturation, the vine leaves get water only by the rain. The grapes are collected in a slightly overmatured stage and are spread out in specially shaped areas (threshing floor), where they are dehydrated naturally with the heat of the sun during the warm months of summer, thus extending the maturation of the grapes, giving it special aromas and balance.

Ruby red Colour, barrel notes, complex aroma of cherry and raspberry jam, with light spice notes, soft sense in the mouth, with a pleasant sweet aftertaste. It accompanies fresh or dried fruits, fruit tarts and nuts.
Ideal serving temperature 12-14 °C.

“Vageni”
The red wine “Vageni” comes from the versatile grape variety Agiorgitiko which is cultivated on a mountainous dry vineyard (650m altitude) on the northern slopes of Zireia.

Its characteristics are the rich deep reddish colour, soft tannins and intense aromas.

Mandas family takes care of all the phases of viticulture and wine making, minimizing human intervention, giving the vineyard the opportunity to express its complexity.
Ideal consumption temperature: 15-17 °C

“Vageni” = Large wooden barrel
