Mountainous Corinthia has accessible roads which make exploration quite easy and offers you pleasant surprises such as Zireia with its many peaks, the beautiful myths and the various picturesque villages lying on its slopes. Although the heart of mountainous Corinthia is the enchanting Trikala, during your excursions you will enjoy the whole mountainous area which offers many alternatives with its forests, peaks, plateaus and lakes.
Your exploration of the surrounding areas – Indicative Routes

Trikala – Karya – Feneos – Steno – Goura – Mesino – Ancient Feneos – Lake Doxa

Starting from Trikala, you can head to Karya and then go to Feneos plain where the route and the landscape will enchant you with its beauty. Huge fir trees of Megali Ziria and Small villages, less or more extrovert or introvert, surround Feneos plain. You can stop at Goura, the main village where Taxiarches Church (from 1880) dominates the beautiful central square. Then, after the village of Mesino, head towards ancient Feneos and move on to the artificial lake Doxa. The lake was created in 1997. A forest with fir, oak, pine and hazel trees extends around the lake. Climb up to St. George’s Monastery for rose spoon sweet and enjoy the view of the magnificent scenery. A path begins from the lake, passes through the chapel of Agios Nikolaos and climbs up to the top of Durdouvana.

Trikala – Karya – Goura – Kastania – Stymphalia

 From Goura and Mesino village, you will head straight ahead towards Kastania. The route is one of the most beautiful in the area with the fir trees standing out as we approach the plain of Stymphalia.

The landscape changes in the plain. The reeds and the boundaries of the lake, which is an important wetland, are fascinating and the wonderful Stymphalia Environment Museum deserves your visit. The informative guided tour will present the actual dimension and the value of this rare wetland.

Off road routes

When the weather is suitable, and if you are off-road enthusiasts, you will enjoy routes such as Mesaia Trikala – Hermes Cave – Dassia Lake, or the round of Zireia starting from the high altitude plateau of Zireia. It’s a hard road, but the beauty of the mountain range will reward you.
